WHAT IS KAUKAS GRAVEL:

The KAUKAS Gravel is unsupported bikepacking ride through Aukštaitija woods.

Don't let the name 'Aukštaitija' (highlands) fool you – there are no mountains here (just around 7500 meters of elevation gain over 900 kilometers), but we have thrown in some short spicy gravel ascents to ensure a bit more lactic acid than you anticipate. Expect to enjoy mostly gravel roads, overall, it will be 95% of gravel with some parts of paved route.

A few swamp crossings might be encoutered as well, for you to familiriaze better with the nature.

While the KAUKAS Gravel is focused on embracing the nature, being alone on the bike and going away from industrial daily life. However, as a reminder of the human influence to the natural world, route leads through Ignalina nuclear power plant (unexploded sister to the Chernobyl nuclear PP), which is closed now and stands as a soviet relict. It will be quick glimpse to the structure which can have so much energy before coming back to the forests, gravel and your own power management.

Afterall, riding bike is always about having fun, thus, you can take your buddies to the forests and try beat the sweat out of each other by racing or just ride side by side with the chill bikepacking mode.

It is a first time ultra ride for you?

The Kaukas gravel is exactly the event to start riding longer (bigger) distances. Although, there is 4.5 days time limit (to be considered as Finisher), we will close the finish line 24h later (meaning you have 5.5 days to complete it, if necessary).

You still think that 900km in 5.5 days is too hard? or maybe your cycling bud is not willing to join you at the main ride?

Check the WKND ride, a shorter version (400km). It's more flexible and easier challenge. Both rides are finishing at the same time.

Not a newbie at Ultra rides?

Come here and show what you got. It's a first edition ride, thus, winner always be in the record books! :D

You think it is not challenging enough?

Come arround and set the pace! We will see who is who..

What is the WKND ride?

A shorter version ride, but still unsupported bikepacking challenge. Just only 400km, starting friday (August 15th) at 09:00 with a time limit of 37 hours (to be considered as Finisher). Finishers party aligns with the main event, yet the race center will remain open, meaning you have an extra 22 hours (59h in total) to comfortably complete your ride.

What is KAUKINĖ "Race center"?

The main location of the event: gathering point, camping, start/ finish line, you can leave your stuff while riding, finishers party also here.

What about sleeping before and after the ride?

In KAUKAS race center, you can set up your tent or bring a camper if needed. If you want some more comfort than sleeping in the tent, don't be shy to check suroundings for a countryside houses (there is quite a lot around).
